Papers

A gracious tree was I

Happy and free amongst others

Cold metal passed through my veins

My hands were torn apart

Monsters ate me up

Shrivelled every part of me

Compressed into something white

A thing on which cold pens and pencils scribble on

Edges torn

My whole being crunched

Squashed into a lifeless paper

Hoping that one day I’ll grow back

Piles upon piles

Papers among papers

There’s a union within us

But it’s not like the one before

No emotion, no sound

Just papers.
